NIDA – Truth Edition
Introduction
This section of Potpraganda will focus on the “fact brochures” offered by NIDA to both teens and parents. Let us be completely clear that no one at Show Me the Facts is condoning the use of marijuana for anyone, especially kids and teenagers. Our only goal is to de-filter the ambiguous information provided by some groups to inform.
Ironically, as hard as NIDA tries to save children from the dangers of mind-altering chemicals, they seem to enjoy exposing people of all ages to ignorance. Ignorance, in my opinion, is the most dangerous mind-altering substance in existence.
How is the information organized?
We generally work down a list of propaganda items, debunking and de-filtering as we go along in order. NIDA, however, has two sources of propaganda on their website (one targeted towards teens, the other towards parents). We will cover all points here and notate whom they were directed at (”T” meaning it was targeted at teenagers, “P” meaning it was targeted at parents, and “B” meaning it was a piece of information targeted at both teenagers and parents). In the instances of it being targeted at both groups, we will usually go off the information being provided for parents, as the teenager version is usually just a simplified version of the parent’s version.
First we will provide the complete, unedited “fact” being claimed by NIDA with a direct link to their content. Below, we will examine the information provided (usually in individual snippets) and provide cited-corrections and good-ol-logic. At some points, we may add humor… but no promises.
